One of the greatest mistakes we make is assuming we have to figure everything out on our own. God never intended for us to navigate life’s decisions without Him. Instead, He invites us to ask for wisdom, not occasionally, but continually. Biblical wisdom is more than knowledge. It is seeing life from God’s perspective and responding according to His truth. Wisdom helps us know when to speak and when to remain silent, when to move forward and when to wait, when to hold on and when to let go. The beautiful promise of James 1:5 is that God never grows weary of our questions. He is a generous Father who delights in guiding His children. Every prayer for wisdom is an opportunity to draw closer to the One who already knows the end from the beginning. Today, before making even one important decision, pause and ask, “Lord, what would You have me do?” His wisdom will never lead you where His grace cannot sustain you.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
James 1:5 (NIV)
Father,
Thank You for inviting me to seek Your wisdom. Forgive me for the times I’ve relied on my own understanding instead of turning to You first. Today, help me pause before I proceed, listen before I speak, and trust Your guidance above my own instincts. Lead every decision I make according to Your perfect will.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Before making your next important decision today, stop and ask God for His wisdom. Trust that He will faithfully guide your next step.
If this Prayer & Perspective encouraged you, share it with someone who could use God’s wisdom today.
This month, we’re walking through wisdom, identity, honest faith, and the peace of God. The September Companion Journal gives you one place to pause, reflect, pray, and write your way through each week’s Prayer & Perspective.
You do not have to keep up perfectly or fill in every blank. Use the journal throughout the month whenever something in the devotional speaks to your heart.
Click below to request your September Companion Journal and receive it directly from While You Wait Ministries.
Prayer & Perspective goes even deeper inside the HOPErs Community, where we sit with these same words together through prayer, conversation, encouragement, and While You Wait Wednesday teachings.
Prayer & Perspective gives you five minutes a day. The Companion Journal gives you a place to hold onto what those minutes stir up.
