Biblical encouragement for bringing honest questions, hurt, and uncertainty to God without being afraid that asking will weaken your faith.
Some people believe faith means never asking questions, but God has never been intimidated by an honest heart. Throughout Scripture, men and women of great faith cried out with confusion and uncertainty, yet God met them with compassion instead of condemnation. He is not looking for perfect words; He is looking for a heart that continues to seek Him. Real faith isn’t pretending everything is fine. It is bringing your whole heart to God, even the parts that are hurting, and trusting Him enough to stay in the conversation. Often, He doesn’t answer every question immediately, but He always reminds us that He is present. If you’re carrying unanswered questions today, don’t let them push you away from God. Let them become an invitation to draw even closer to Him.
“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.”
Psalm 62:8
What does Psalm 62:8 teach about bringing questions to God? Psalm 62:8 invites us to trust God at all times and pour out our hearts before Him. Honest faith does not require us to hide confusion, disappointment, or hurt. God welcomes us to bring the whole truth of what we are carrying into His presence. When we have unanswered questions, we can speak honestly to God while still trusting that He is our refuge. Asking questions can become an act of faith when those questions lead us closer to Him instead of away from Him.
Father,
Thank You for welcoming every part of my heart. Give me the courage to bring my questions honestly before You without fear or shame. Strengthen my faith as I learn to trust Your heart, even when I don’t yet understand Your plans.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
