Prayer & Perspective

Perspective

Pain has a way of making us question things we once knew for certain. God, where are You? Why did You allow this? Why am I still hurting? When will this finally get better? Those questions do not frighten God. And your brokenness does not cause Him to back away. Scripture tells us something powerful: God comes close to the brokenhearted. Not after you have recovered. Not after you have stopped crying. Not after you have figured everything out.

Right there, in the middle of it, God draws near. Sometimes we expect God’s presence to mean that He will immediately remove the pain. But often, before God changes the situation, He strengthens us while we are walking through it. He sits with us in grief. He steadies us in disappointment. He reminds us who we are when rejection makes us question our worth. He gives us enough strength for today when tomorrow still feels uncertain.

You may not understand what happened, and you may not be able to see what God is doing yet. But do not confuse God’s silence with God’s absence. He is closer than you think. This week, instead of asking only, “God, when will this stop hurting?” try asking: “God, show me where You are in this.” Then watch. His presence may come through Scripture, a conversation, an unexpected moment of peace, a friend who calls at exactly the right time, or simply the strength to keep moving when you thought you could not. Your heart may be hurting. But you have not been abandoned. God is here.

Scripture

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for reminding me that You draw near even before my heart has fully healed. When pain makes me question where You are, help me remember Your promise that You are close. Meet me in the places that still hurt. Sit with me in the questions I cannot answer. Strengthen me when I am tired, and give me peace when my emotions feel unsettled. Help me recognize Your presence today. I may not understand everything You are doing, but I trust that You have not left me. Stay close, Lord, and continue healing my heart.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
