Welcome HOPErs!

Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.

With love and expectancy,
Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville

Pierced for Our Healing:

This week on While You Wait Wednesday, I shared a story that began with something small: a painful finger I decided to ignore. Like many of us, I thought it would take care of itself. But as the pain worsened, I realized it wasn’t going away. Eventually, I ended up at urgent care.

The doctor looked at the swollen finger and said the words no one wants to hear: “We’ll have to lance it.” That finger had a whole personality by then, tender, throbbing, and full of what didn’t belong. I winced as the doctor pierced the wound and released everything that had been hidden beneath the surface. Painful, yes. But necessary.

That experience reminded me how similar our spiritual lives can be. So many of us live with quiet hurts we would rather not touch. We cover them, ignore them, or try to fix them with temporary ointments such as busyness, distraction, or self-reliance. But true healing doesn’t happen until we let God pierce what’s festering inside.

We invite you to take a few moments to watch this week’s message from Dr. Lael Melville, where she shares this personal story and offers encouragement for anyone walking through a season of healing and waiting.

As you listen, ask God to show you the places in your heart that may still need His gentle, healing touch.

Sometimes, in our waiting seasons, God allows a spiritual lancing, a moment when His truth cuts deep enough to expose what we have been hiding. It might come through a conversation, a loss, a sermon, or even a quiet conviction. It isn’t meant to punish us but to free us.

As I shared in this week’s message:

“The original piercing of Jesus Christ is still needed to get the ugly stuff out while you wait.”

That is the truth. The same love that stretched across the cross is still at work today, cleansing, renewing, and restoring. Healing often begins where it hurts the most.

“But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”Isaiah 53:5

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”Psalm 51:10

These verses remind us that the piercing of Christ was never wasted. It was purposeful. Through His wounds, ours can finally find peace.

At While You Wait Ministries, we practice a rhythm that helps us live this out:

  • Look Up: Keep your eyes on Jesus, the One who heals completely.
  • Look In: Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what needs to be released.
  • Look Out: Share your testimony so others can see what healing looks like in real life.

Each of these steps invites us to participate in our own transformation. God is not just removing pain; He is restoring purpose.

Take a quiet moment this week to ask yourself,
“Lord, what in me still needs to be pierced so You can make me whole?”

Maybe it’s unforgiveness. Maybe it’s fear. Maybe it’s the belief that you have to hold everything together on your own. Whatever it is, let Him meet you there. Healing may sting at first, but it always ends in peace.

If this message spoke to you, I would love for you to join us for a special time of reflection and renewal at our upcoming Virtual Seminar.

Lord, thank You that even when the piercing hurts, it heals.
Thank You for loving us enough to expose what needs to be released.
Teach us to wait well, to trust You with our wounds, and to believe that restoration is already on the way.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You are not alone in your waiting season.
God is still working beneath the surface, and what He removes, He always restores.
