Welcome HOPErs!

Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.

With love and expectancy,

Gratitude Strengthens What Remains

Woman journaling with coffee in soft morning light while reflecting with gratitude

Hey friend,

What you focus on grows.

That’s not a slogan. That’s just how the heart works. Whatever you give your attention to, day after day, gets bigger. Louder. More real to you. The thing you keep replaying in your mind starts to feel like the whole story, even when it’s only one chapter.

So when you choose gratitude, you are not pretending. You are not putting a bow on something that hurt. You are choosing to strengthen the good that remains in your story so the hard doesn’t get to define everything.

Gratitude doesn’t erase what was difficult. It just keeps it from running the whole show.

I’ve watched women in this community come back to life through gratitude. Not the cute, performative kind. The slow, honest kind. The kind where you sit with your coffee and write down three things, and at first they feel small, and then one day you realize you’ve been counting and the counting changed something in you.

That’s healing. Quiet, ordinary healing.

Gratitude re-centers your heart. It steadies your perspective. It teaches your eyes to find what’s still good, what’s still here, what’s still being given to you right now in this season. And when your eyes get trained that way, you start to see God’s care in places you used to walk right past.

The same morning sun. The friend who texts you back. The food in your kitchen. The breath in your lungs. The fact that you are still here, still trying, still showing up. None of that is small.

You don’t have to feel grateful to start. You just have to start. The feeling tends to follow the practice. That’s how God built us.

Scripture for today:

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. — Proverbs 31:25

Prayer:

Father, train my heart to notice what is good and lasting. Keep me grounded in gratitude. Amen.

Today’s action:

Write down three things you are thankful for today. Just three. They can be small. They probably should be.

What you focus on grows. Grow the good today.

Waiting is never wasted when God is in it.

Love,

Dr. Lael
