Title:We don’t usually think of discipline as loving. It sounds more like rules, restrictions, things we have to do instead of things we want to do.
But in this week’s While You Wait Wednesday, Dr. Lael flips that idea on its head. Discipline isn’t about restriction. It’s about protection. It’s how we guard the things that matter most.
Think about it. Prayer takes discipline. Rest takes discipline. Healthy relationships take discipline. None of these things happen automatically, and none of them happen by accident. They grow out of small, intentional choices we make again and again, even on the days we don’t feel like it.
Hebrews tells us that discipline produces a harvest of righteousness and peace. Not instant peace. Harvest peace. The kind that comes after time, after tending, after showing up when it would be easier not to.
So this week, Dr. Lael is asking a simple but important question: what habits do you need to build to stay connected to God? Not a hundred new habits. Just one. Choose a faith one, and stay steady with it.
If you’re in a season of waiting right now, this one is worth sitting with. Discipline might be exactly what your waiting needs.

Waiting is never wasted when God is at work.
Love, Dr. Lael
