Welcome to Our Blog
Welcome HOPErs!
Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.
With love and expectancy,
Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville

Most of the women reading this are really good at giving.
Showing up for other people. Serving without being asked. Holding space for everyone around them while quietly setting their own needs to the side. It feels natural. It feels right. In a lot of ways it feels like faith.
But at some point, the well runs dry.
Not because you did anything wrong. Not because your faith isn’t strong enough. But because giving without receiving is not sustainable. It was never meant to be. And the longer you go without letting anything back in, the harder it becomes to have something real left to offer.
Receiving can feel uncomfortable. For some of us it feels selfish. For others it feels vulnerable in a way that giving never does. When you give, you are in control. When you receive, you have to trust someone enough to let them in. And that is a different kind of risk.
But healing requires both.
God is not only asking you to pour out your heart before Him. He is also inviting you to be filled. Isaiah 66:13 says He comforts like a mother. A mother does not just receive from her child. She gives. She tends. She replenishes. That is what God is doing toward you right now, whether you are letting it in or not.
Receiving His care is not selfish. It is not weakness. It is how you are restored. It is how you are sustained. It is how you eventually have something real to give again.
You are allowed to let God care for you today. You do not have to deflect it or minimize it or explain why someone else needs it more. It is for you. It has always been for you.
Let it in.
Scripture
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” — Isaiah 66:13
Prayer
Father, teach me how to receive Your care without pulling back from it. I know how to give. I know how to serve. But I am not always good at letting You tend to me. Today I am choosing to receive. Fill what has been emptied. Restore what has been spent. I am open. Amen.
One Thing for Today
When something good comes your way today, let it land. A kind word, a moment of rest, an unexpected kindness. Do not deflect it. Do not minimize it. Do not immediately redirect it toward someone else. Just receive it. That is practice. That is healing.
Your Next Step
If this met you somewhere real today, there is a place to keep going.
The HOPErs Community is walking through Cover and Care all month long and it’s free to join. Inside you’ll find daily Prayer and Perspective, While You Wait Wednesday teachings from Dr. Lael, and a community of women who are done pretending they have it all together.
Come as you are. The door is open.
