Welcome HOPErs!
Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.
With love and expectancy,
Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville
Founder, While You Wait Ministries

Hey friend,
It’s Wednesday, and I want to slow you down for a minute.
Look at your life. Really look. The strength you carry, the dignity you walk in, the woman you’ve become. None of that was built alone.
Somebody prayed for you. Somebody provided when you couldn’t. Somebody protected you, sometimes without you even knowing it. Somebody poured into you in ways you only understand now, looking back.
This week is not just about celebrating perfect motherhood. We both know perfect motherhood isn’t really a thing, and trying to make this week about that leaves a lot of women out. This week is about recognizing impact. About honoring the evidence of life that was given to you, even if it came in unexpected ways.
It might have been your mother. It might have been your grandmother who really raised you. It might have been an aunt, a Sunday school teacher, a neighbor down the street, a coach, a friend’s mom who fed you when your house was hard. It might have been a woman at church who saw you when you felt invisible. It might have been your daughter, your sister, the women who became family when family fell short.
Honor looks for the evidence. It looks at who you are and traces it back to the hands that helped shape you.
When you do that, something shifts. Your heart aligns with gratitude. The score-keeping quiets down. And in that quiet, deeper healing has room to move. Because gratitude and bitterness can’t share the same square footage. One of them has to make room.
Let it be gratitude today.
I think a lot of us walk around carrying the weight of what we didn’t get without ever stopping to count what we did. Not to dismiss the loss. Just to balance the ledger. To let our eyes adjust to all the light that was actually there.
So today, on this While You Wait Wednesday, I want you to honor someone. Not in your head. Out loud, or in writing, or in a phone call, or in a prayer if they’re already with the Lord.
Let gratitude lead the way.
Scripture for today:
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. — Proverbs 31:25
Prayer:
Father, show me who to honor and how to do it with sincerity. Let gratitude lead. Amen.
Today’s action:
Express appreciation to one person today. A text, a card, a phone call, a moment in prayer. Tell them what they gave you. Don’t make it complicated. Just say it.
You are clothed in strength and dignity because someone helped clothe you. Recognize them today.
Waiting is never wasted when God is in it.
Love,
Dr. Lael
