Welcome HOPErs!

Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.

With love and expectancy,
Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville

What You Repeat Shapes You

Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville walks with four diverse women along a coastal boardwalk at sunset, illustrating how faithful daily habits and supportive community shape spiritual growth.

Most people underestimate the power of repetition.

We tend to think our lives are shaped by major decisions, milestone moments, and life-changing events. While those moments matter, much of who we become is formed through the things we do repeatedly.

The prayers we pray. The thoughts we entertain. The habits we practice. The conversations we have. The choices we make when no one is watching.

Over time, repetition becomes direction, and direction eventually becomes destination.

That is why Scripture encourages us to fix our minds on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. God understands that what we repeatedly focus on eventually shapes our hearts.

The same principle works in reverse. Repeated worry strengthens fear. Repeated comparison steals joy. Repeated resentment hardens the heart. Repeated busyness can slowly crowd out the things that matter most.

Friend, if you want to know where your life is headed, pay attention to what you repeat.

The good news is that God can help us build new patterns. One prayer at a time. One faithful choice at a time. One act of obedience at a time.

The life you desire is often built through the habits you practice consistently.

Stay steady.

“Let us think about ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” — Hebrews 10:24

Father, help me become more aware of the habits and patterns shaping my life. Strengthen the things that draw me closer to You and help me release the habits that pull me away from Your best. Amen.

Identify one habit that is helping you grow and one habit that is holding you back.

The HOPErs community is a place where women encourage one another toward healthy habits, deeper faith, and purposeful living. We’d love for you to join us.
