Welcome HOPErs!

Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.

With love and expectancy,
Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville

Peace Needs Protection

Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville enjoys a quiet moment of prayer and reflection beside a peaceful lakeside at sunset, illustrating how protecting your peace begins with intentionally making space for God's presence.

Many people want peace, but few people realize peace requires protection.

Peace does not simply happen because circumstances improve. Peace grows when we intentionally create room for it in our lives.

The challenge is that there are many things competing for our attention. Endless notifications. Constant demands. Unresolved conflicts. Unhealthy expectations. Fear about the future. Regret about the past.

Without realizing it, we can allow these things to consume our thoughts and slowly erode our peace.

Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray. He understood something we sometimes forget: peace requires intentionality.

Protecting your peace is not selfish.

It is stewardship.

You cannot give away what you do not possess. You cannot lead others well if your own heart is constantly depleted. You cannot consistently pour out while never allowing God to pour in.

Friend, consider what may be threatening your peace today.

Is it comparison?

Fear?

Busyness?

An unresolved relationship?

Whatever it is, bring it before God.

Peace grows where trust lives.

Stay steady.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You.” — Isaiah 26:3

Father, reveal anything that is stealing my peace. Help me trust You more deeply and create healthy rhythms that allow my heart to rest in Your presence. Amen.

Identify one thing that consistently disrupts your peace and create a plan to address it.
