Biblical encouragement for bringing honest questions and uncertainty to God without believing your faith has failed.
God has never asked you to silence your questions, only to bring them to Him. One of the most beautiful prayers in Scripture is, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.” It reminds us that faith and uncertainty can exist in the same heart, and God lovingly meets us in both.
The strongest faith is not the faith that never struggles. It is the faith that refuses to let go of God while it struggles. Every question becomes another opportunity to discover that His grace is greater than your uncertainty.
Bring your whole heart to Him today. You’ll find a Father who listens with compassion and responds with perfect love.
This week on While You Wait Wednesday, Dr. Lael shares more about what it means to bring God your honest questions instead of hiding them. Watch “God Can Handle Your Questions” and be encouraged to keep trusting Him, even when you do not have all the answers. CLICK BELOW TO WATCH IT
“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’”
Mark 9:24 (NIV)
What does Mark 9:24 teach about faith and doubt? Mark 9:24 shows us that faith and uncertainty can exist in the same heart. The father in this passage does not hide his struggle from Jesus. He brings both his belief and his unbelief honestly to Him. For someone wrestling with questions, this is a reminder that God is not asking for perfect certainty before we come to Him. We can bring Him our honest questions, ask for help, and continue trusting Him while our faith grows.
Father,
Thank You for loving me enough to welcome every question I carry. Help me trust You when answers don’t come quickly and strengthen my faith as I continue to seek You. Teach me to rest in Your character, even when I don’t understand Your ways.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What unanswered question feels heaviest today? Where can you honestly say, “I believe,” while also asking God to help your unbelief?
