Biblical encouragement for finding peace when you have unanswered questions and do not understand what God is doing.
Sometimes we think we need all the answers before we can have peace, but peace has never depended on having complete understanding. It has always depended on knowing the One who does. God’s wisdom reaches beyond what we can see, and His love remains steady even when life feels uncertain. There will always be mysteries we cannot explain, but there will never be a moment when God stops being faithful. Every unanswered question is another invitation to trust His character more than your circumstances. Keep walking with Him. The God who began a good work in you will faithfully complete it.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
Isaiah 55:8 (NIV)
What does Isaiah 55:8 teach us when we do not understand God’s plan? Isaiah 55:8 reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are greater than our own. Not understanding what He is doing does not mean He is absent, unfaithful, or without purpose. Our limited perspective cannot see everything God sees. When questions remain unanswered, faith can choose to trust God’s character over the need for complete certainty. Peace can grow as we remember who He is, even before we understand what He is doing.
Father,
When I don’t understand what You’re doing, help me remember who You are. Give me the confidence to trust Your wisdom above my own and the peace to rest in Your unfailing love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
