Prayer & Perspective

Perspective

We would probably prefer it that way. One prayer. One breakthrough. One morning when we wake up and everything that hurt no longer hurts. But often, God heals us differently. Day by day. Little by little. Layer by layer. You may have experienced moments when you thought you were finally past something, only to have a memory, conversation, place, or unexpected moment bring the feelings back. That does not mean you are starting over. And it does not mean you have failed to heal.

Healing is not always a straight line. Some days you will feel strong. Other days something may feel tender again. Both can be part of the same healing journey. Paul reminds us that even when life takes something out of us, God is doing something within us: We are being renewed day by day. That means God has fresh grace for today’s part of your healing. You do not need tomorrow’s strength today. You do not need to know when every painful feeling will disappear.

You do not need to rush yourself into becoming who you think you should already be. Let God work at the pace of grace. Pay attention to the small changes. The thing that once ruined your entire day now occupies only a few minutes. The memory that once overwhelmed you no longer has the same power. You are learning to say no. You are setting healthier boundaries. You are beginning to trust your own voice again.

You are laughing more. You are sleeping better. You are praying differently. Do not dismiss those things because they seem small. Healing often whispers before it announces itself. Today, do not ask, “Why am I not completely healed yet?” Ask instead: “Lord, where are You renewing me today?” Then give thanks for what you see. God is not rushing your healing. And neither should you.

Scripture

“Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)

Prayer

Lord,

Thank You that healing does not have to happen all at once. Help me be patient with the work You are doing in me. When an old hurt feels tender again, keep me from believing I have lost all the ground I have gained. Show me the small places where renewal is already happening. Give me grace for today’s healing and freedom from worrying about tomorrow’s. Renew my mind, strengthen my heart, and help me trust Your pace. Thank You for loving me through every part of the process.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
