“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you.” — Joshua 1:9
Read that last part again. For the Lord your God is with you.
That is the whole reason any of this works. Strength does not mean you have to shut down your heart. It means you can stand firm while staying connected. Softness does not mean weakness. It means you are still open. Open to God. Open to growth. Open to truth, even when truth is uncomfortable.
When God is with you, you do not have to choose between the two. You can be both. The same woman who holds a hard line at work can come home and let her guard down. The same woman who weeps over what God has shown her can stand up and walk in obedience the next morning.
That is not a contradiction. That is wholeness.
Father, help me walk in strength without losing softness. Remind me You are with me. Amen.
In your next conversation, choose both truth and kindness. Not one or the other. Both. That is what it looks like to live this out.
This both/and life is not something we figure out alone. Inside our HOPErs community, we are walking each other through what wholeness actually looks like on a regular Wednesday. Come sit with women who are learning the same thing you are. There is room for you here.
Prayer & Perspective gives you five minutes a day. The Companion Journal gives you a place to hold onto what those minutes stir up.
