Welcome HOPErs!

Hi there, and welcome to While You Wait Ministries. Before you scroll to the next thing, take a breath. Your waiting season is not wasted time—it's a divine classroom where God is preparing you for what's ahead. Here, we gather to remember that hope still works, healing still happens, and you're not waiting alone.
You're right where you're meant to be. Let's wait well together.

You Are Not a Burden

Rev. Dr. Lael C. Melville sitting with another woman in a peaceful garden setting, illustrating faithful friendship, support, and the reminder that no one is a burden when they need care.

Can I speak to something quiet today?

Some of you are not asking for help because somewhere along the way, you started believing you were too much.

Too needy. Too complicated. Too heavy. Too much to ask somebody to carry with you.

So you stay quiet. You minimize what you are going through. You say, “Oh, I’m managing,” when you are barely making it. You apologize for needing things. You shrink your pain down to something that feels more acceptable to everyone around you.

But friend, needing support does not make you a burden.

It makes you human.

There is a woman in scripture named Naomi who lost almost everything. Her husband. Her sons. Her plans. Her future as she understood it. And she was so convinced of her own brokenness that she told the people around her to call her Mara, which means bitter, because she said the Lord had dealt bitterly with her.

She was not hiding her pain. She was announcing it.

And one of the women who loved her, Ruth, did not run from that heaviness. She moved toward it. She stayed. She said, “Where you go, I will go.”

Naomi did not have to earn Ruth’s presence. She did not have to pull herself together first. She was allowed to be broken, honest, and still loved.

That is what real support looks like.

And maybe you need to hear this today: the people who genuinely love you are not secretly counting the cost of caring for you. They want to show up. They want to help carry it. But they cannot do that if you keep convincing yourself you are too much for them to handle.

You are not a burden.

You are someone worth showing up for.

Scripture
"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay." — Ruth 1:16

Prayer: Father, heal the places in me that believe I am too much to love well. Help me receive care without guilt and let the people You have placed in my life actually reach me. Amen.

Today’s invitation:

The next time someone offers to help you, resist the urge to say no automatically. Let them.

Come Sit With Us
