God Provides in the Middle of the Waiting

After Naomi and Ruth arrived in Bethlehem with nothing, Ruth went out to work. She went to glean in the fields, which basically meant she was picking up the leftover grain that harvesters dropped behind them. It was humble work. It was unglamorous. It was what survival looked like.

And in the middle of that ordinary, quiet, not-at-all-dramatic day, she ended up in the field of a man named Boaz. Not by accident. Scripture says it this way: “As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz.”

As it turned out.

That phrase always stops me.

Because from the outside, it looked like coincidence. A woman making practical choices, just trying to get through the day. But God was moving in what looked like an ordinary morning.

He was already arranging something. Providing something. Positioning something, in the middle of a season that looked like loss and limitation.

I want to ask you something today:

What if God is already working in what looks like just another ordinary day for you?

Not every provision arrives dramatically. Not every answer comes wrapped in a miracle that stops traffic. Sometimes God’s faithfulness looks like a door that opens quietly. A conversation that shifts something. A person who says the right thing at the right time. A small opportunity in a field you almost did not walk into.

Do not dismiss the ordinary moments.

God has always done extraordinary things through them.

Naomi went from calling herself bitter to holding her grandson and being told by the women around her, “Naomi has a son.” The same God who was present in her grief was present in her restoration. And He did it through a faithful daughter-in-law, an ordinary harvest season, and a man who happened to notice a woman working in his field.

He provides. Even in the middle of the waiting.

“As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz.” — Ruth 2:3

Prayer

Father, help me trust You in the ordinary days. Remind me that You are working even when I cannot see it, and that provision can arrive through people and circumstances I almost overlooked. Amen.
